Here at Yarrawarrah students are given opportunities to participate in a range of sporting activities throughout each school year. Every Friday we send sporting teams to compete in the PSSA Competitions against other schools from the Sutherland Shire in sports such as Oz Tag, Soccer, Touch Football, Netball, Softball, Tee-Ball and Cricket. Training for these sporting teams occurs weekly to enable students to develop proficiency in skills and cohesion with their teammates.

In addition, we offer students the chance to be involved in non-competitive gala days to further promote the importance of values such as teamwork, good sportsmanship and playing fairly. These days can be a successful way of promoting physical activity and social skills amongst all students as they contribute to their overall well-being.

We have 3 major carnivals each year where students compete on both an individual and team basis. These are the Swimming, Cross Country and Athletics carnivals. Upon successful performance at any of these carnivals, students are given the opportunity to compete at zone, regional, state and national levels.

Furthermore, we liaise with third party sporting providers who come into school and run specialist clinics offering students the chance to try sports many of them may never have been exposed to previously. Examples of sports are Gymnastics, Golf, AFL, and Hockey.

As individuals, selected students (formed through trial selection at school) are given the opportunity to trial, and potentially become part of, a large range of sports at both a zone and Sydney east regional level. The types of sports students have previously trialled for include: Soccer, Rugby League, AFL, Hockey, Tennis, Netball, Basketball, Cricket, Softball, Touch Football and Rugby Union.
