• Statement From Glen Carter, Principal of Yarrawarrah Public School.

"Yarrawarrah Public, a vibrant small school of 149 students set amongst a tranquil bush surrounding and within walking distance of the Royal National Park, has undergone significant change and progress in the last 12 months. During 2006 air conditioning of the school was completed with every occupied classroom and indoor learning space now air conditioned.

Our physical improvements included the construction and completion of the long awaited school hall. The building was opened and dedicated by the Hon Carmel Tebutt on the 18th October only days after it's completion. This hall opening culminates decades of work by many people within the school community and provides a meeting place not just for the school but the wider community.

Still more physical improvements included the installation of new playground equipment due to be completed early in 2007. This equipment was funded through Investing In Schools grants by the federal government and provides not only enjoyable play for students but an active aid to healthy lifestyles.

More significant than the physical improvements to the school was the introduction and implementation of a program called Restorative Practice. This program builds on previous work done in developing positive attitudes, relationships and values. Restorative Practice has been given significant support and acceptance from parents, students and staff.

I certify that the information provided in the statement is the result of a rigorous school self-evaluation process and is a balanced and genuine account of the school's achievements and areas for development.

    Glen Carter."
